Product Description
Genasun 50/65W 5A | Custom Voltage Solar charge controller with MPPT GV-5-MOD-CV
This regulator is setup in the factory to suit your batteries CV - Please note required charge voltage and send a copy of the battery spec sheet when placing order.
Small, critically efficient, and cost-effective, the GV-5-MOD gets more from every panel.
- 99.85% Peak Efficiency
- Electrolytic-Free, Ceramic Capacitors
- Two Selectable Charge Profiles
- Ultra-fast true MPP Tracking
- Plug&Play for easy installation
- Advanced electronic protections
- 10 Year Warranty
The GV-5-MOD is the first MPPT controller available as an easy-to-install PCB with a plug&play pin-header connector. It is light, compact, and packs advanced MPPT tracking technology. Compatible with PV panels up to 65W for charging 12V batteries (Lead or Lithium) up to 5A with 99.85% peak efficiency. It will extract 10-30% more power from a panel than a PWM controller, and delivers more power to your battery in sub-optimal conditions. The load output allows the GV-5-MOD to protect the battery from over discharge (loads up to 5A) and has auto-resetting short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection. The GV-5-MOD has internal LED indicators and comes with a polarized, shrouded connector for error-proof installation. Its ceramic capacitors will never wear out, and it ships with an industry-leading 10 year warranty. Available for LiFePO4 (3S or 4S), LiCo/LiMn/LiNi (3S or 4S), or custom battery voltages.
Get the Ceramic Edge. Electrolytic-Free with 10 Year Warranty
Genasun’s Ceramic controllers set a new benchmark for reliability. Traditional controllers have components filled with fluid electrolytes that boil off over time, causing system failure. Genasun Solid Ceramic controllers have no fluid. They don’t wear out in the heat. Backed by an industry leading 10 year warranty, these controllers take reliability to a new level.
Computer controlled, 4-Stage battery charging
Precise computer controlled charging ensures the optimal charge cycle for your battery. This increases the battery life and maximizes battery capacity.

Partial Shade – In-City Applications
Genasun controllers shine in partial shade. The 50% power increase from Genasun’s advanced MPPT is often enough to prevent system downtime from partial shade. From street signs and tree branches, to coffee cups and stickers placed on panels by pedestrians, Genasun MPPT keeps partially shaded solar panels generating more power than any other controller.
Complete Power Management.
The GV-5-L does it all. Plug in the solar panel, connect the battery, and connect the load. The GV-5 will automatically maximize the solar power collected. The advanced battery charging algorithm will maximize the lifetime and capacity of your battery system. The load output will provide smooth, filtered power without the AC chatter found in lesser controllers. This little black box does it all, efficiently and consistently.
Radio Silence
Most MPPT solar charge controllers broadcast Radio Frequency noise from the DC/DC conversion circuit. Unfiltered inputs and outputs waste energy and interfere with nearby or attached electronics. Genasun worked to eliminated RF emissions from our line of charge controllers. During third-party testing for FCC compliance, the test engineer asked us, “Is it on?”. Mission accomplished.
No Fans. No Relays.
Fans get clogged with dust and dirt. Relays eventually stop switching. Genasun controllers use advanced electrical design that obsoletes these parts. With fewer moving parts to wear out, Genasun controllers outlast the competition.
Plug and Play, with Advanced Error Protections
We all make mistakes. People plug panels in backwards. Rodents chew through cables and cause short circuits. Stuff happens. But don't worry, we've got you covered. Advanced built-in electronic protections will instantly cut power to a short circuit. The controller will automatically test to see when the short is removed. Once it's clear, normal operation will resume.
